Launch of a trio of 21’ Comfort Line travel trailers

Bontrager Outdoors is thrilled to debut its new Comfort Line, which includes a trio (3 models) of 21’ travel trailers. CEO and Co-Owner Jason Bontrager said, “Bontrager Outdoors concentrates on building high-quality and affordable small and lightest weight products. Even though these new 21’ models are our largest models, they still keep with our theme of small and lightweight. Like our current offerings, these are still light enough to be towed with your daily driver, but spacious enough to hold the whole family”. According to Jason these new models are “quiver killers”. Instead of needing several smaller, specialized products to get what you desire for your camping needs, the new Comfort Line can sleep the whole family, has storage space for bicycles or kayaks, and are packed with amenities for convenience and comfort all in a lightweight, easy-to-tow package.Compact, Efficient, and Built for Adventure

The dry weight (UVW) range of the Comfort Line models is from 4,200 to 5000, which is very light for the size. GVWR target for the lineup is 6000 lbs. The three models, the 21BH, 21MB, and 21PD measure in at a box length of 21’ long and exterior width of 8’ and have a nice interior height of 6’ 8”. Each floorplan has plenty of inside seating and internal and external storage.

A Partnership Built on Shared Values

Bontrager Outdoors and Truma share a mission to enhance outdoor living with innovative, high-quality solutions. As Mark Howlett, Executive Vice President of Truma Corp., noted, “Our companies share a similar mission of providing end-users with the finest outdoor products and experiences. We look forward to working with Bontrager Outdoors in helping people make lasting memories while camping.”

Comfortable Interior Amenities

The Comfort Line offers a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower, residential style toilet, and large vanity. Plentiful storage resides above and below the vanity for toiletries and personal items. The kitchen is well-equipped with a two-burner stove, microwave, and an amazingly large refrigerator with a dual-directional opening. A separate tub-style freezer drawer sits below the refrigerator, which contains leaks if something should be accidentally left in the freezer and thaw out.

To provide for comfort while camping in warmer weather, our Comfort Line features a 13,500 BTU roof-mounted A/C. This provides a highly efficient and effective way to cool down your camper. For the colder temperatures we are proud to offer the Truma Combi furnace and water heater combination unit for a consistent interior temperature during cool weather and a rapid hot water supply. The Truma Combo also serves to heat the underbelly which is enclosed and insulated. This helps to extend your camping season.

Durable Construction

Bontrager Outdoors builds its campers on a stamped and huck-bolted carbon steel Norco/BAL chassis. This differs from most campers on the market built on a welded chassis. Welding involves extreme heat which can weaken and warp the steel during the assembly process. The low temp assembly process of the Norco/BAL chassis provides for a square, straight, and flat surface for a true and smooth ride while towing down the road.

The underbelly of the campers contains the large capacity fresh, grey, and black water tanks. As stated above, Bontrager Outdoors insulates and heats the underbelly of the Comfort Line campers, allowing you to extend your camping season, limiting the worry of frozen tanks and water lines. Because the Truma Combi furnace and water heater is used on 90% of our products, we can plumb heat into the underbelly, which is a huge advantage.

The exterior walls are constructed of vacuum-bonded, laminated fiberglass with an internal aluminum and foam structure. The roof is our tried-and-true truss system, which is coated on the top with blanket insulation, plywood decking, and completely adhered rubber roof coating. We use self-leveling seal on all fasteners and vents to ensure a water-tight roof. All exterior molding is installed over a self-healing Eternabond® tape. This tape adhesive is specifically formulated to keep water out and heal itself throughout the life of the camper.

Our campers sit on Dexter Axle’s proprietary TORFLEX® axle, which features a built-in rubber torsion independent suspension system. Because our Comfort Line campers are designed with a single axle, we use this heavy-duty axle weight rated to 6,000 pounds.

Eye-Catching Exterior

Our Comfort Line campers feature LED lighting all-around with bullet lights on the back, sides, and front. The rear LED brake light features a bright white back-up light when moving in reverse. Each interior light has its own built-in on/off switch. Alongside that is a master switch to turn on and off all lights. An optional Girard “legless” power awning is available which is the brand of choice for high-end motorhomes. We like the Girard awning because it is a “candy-bar” style mount with no vertical legs to get in the way. It is contained in a hard shell and has a built-in support system. The exterior baggage doors are self-catching for ease of loading your gear. The fold-out step goes all the way to the ground and is adjustable for any terrain. This makes it easy for anyone (including furry friends) to get in and out of the camper. Finally, the exterior also features a new adventure-inspired graphics package – complete with a few hidden Easter egg surprises.

Best Value on the Market for Making Priceless Family Memories

At an MSRP starting at $32,495, the Bontrager Outdoors Comfort Line offers an unbeatable value. The superior construction methods and components we use guarantee owners a high-quality and durable camper for a hassle-free ownership experience. Jason Bontrager shared, “Our Comfort Line campers bridge the gap between adventure and families. My family took the Bontrager Outdoors 17BH to Cape Cod last summer for a memorable camping trip. It traveled and towed with ease and performed beautifully, but the 21’ Comfort Line will give our family that little bit of extra space we need to make longer camper excursions more comfortable. We can’t wait to try out the brand new 21BH.” Bontrager Outdoors expects to begin shipping Comfort Line campers to dealers this month.
